What is the Klingon Imperial Diplomatic
Corps?
The Klingon Imperial Diplomatic Corps is an international
organization of people interested in the Star Trek Universe and
in particular, Klingon culture and society. Our members have
a wide range of ages and come from all walks of life, including:
elementary, high school and university students and teachers,
artists, computer graphicists, designers and technicians, office
workers, salespersons, factory workers, housewives, retirees,
and military personnel.
The KIDC is an independent and neutral Klingon organization
that does not get involved in intra-club political disputes or
disagreements. We believe that a Klingon is a Klingon, no matter
what organization, club or group they belong to or are affiliated
with. We hope to serve as a central resource of Klingon cultural
information to all Klingons, regardless of their background.
Our headquarters is the Klingon Imperial Embassy, based
in the Montreal Sector of Canada and the Head of our Diplomatic
Mission here on Terra is the Honoured Ambassador Lady K'Zin Epetai
Kasara. Her Second-In-Command is the Chancellor Stalker Zantai
Subaiesh.
The KIDC has many different departments and sections; one of
which you will be assigned based on your qualifications and your
career preference. Each of our members chooses a Klingon name
and puts together a character or persona that fits plausibly
within the generally accepted view of the Klingon Empire within
the period of The Grand Alliance.
The Klingon Imperial Diplomatic Corps has always had a strong
role-playing component; our organization has chosen to role-play
during the period of "The Grand Alliance". This period
of peace between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation
of Planets is considered to have started around the time frame
of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country until just before
the outbreak of the Klingon Civil War on Star Trek: Deep Space
Nine.
KIDC Activities and Events
Depending on your location on the globe, there are many different
ways of participating in the club. We highly encourage interaction
between member's characters both through role-playing and through
real-life communications via regular snail mail, e-mail and participation
in our many Klingon related mailing lists as well as our Klingon Imperial Forums.
Members can also become involved in Klingon cultural research,
assisting with website maintenance, recruiting and promotion,
organizing display tables at conventions, club fund-raising,
and organizing or assisting in charitable events.
The availability of other events such as Klingon Diplomatic Receptions,
meetings, community events and make-up/ costuming workshops will
depend greatly on the number of other members in your local area.
Members are requested to make occasional or regular contributions
and submissions (articles, convention reports, book reviews,
illustrations or photos) to Klingon Subspace Transmissions, our
official Internet newsletter. All members are expected to participate
in one or more of the above mentioned activities if they wish
to receive promotions in rank or honourifics.
Our Internet Division & Online
Communities
A growing percentage of our members are now on-line, as a
result of this growing facet of our organization, we have put
together this award-winning website dealing with Klingon culture
and society.
Members who have access to e-mail will be automatically added
to the electronic mailing list for Klingon Subspace Transmissions.
They will also have access to a private KIDC Member's Only
Section on our Klingon
Imperial Forums, a communication network where they may contact
other members for assistance regarding Klingon matters, or to
share their stories and experiences from the Klingon Empire.
How do I join the KIDC?
We are currently re-structuring our
membership system and regretfully are not accepting new memberships
at this time. We hope to remedy this situation in the near future,
so please stay tuned for more news...
